Milfoil Prevention Project
Boat Access Greeter Training Workshop - May 2011
Four members of the Echo Lake Access Greeter program attended a workshop in Montpelier on Friday, May 13, hosted by Leslie Matthewsfrom the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources. Diane Anderson, Mary Kenison, Patti Lennon, and Maryanne O’Brien received a refresher course on identifying invasive aquatic plants and animals, as well getting up to speed on recent developments in protecting Vermont's waterways. In addition, Diane, Patti, and Maryanne served on the Experienced Greeter Panel, answering questions and offering guidance to attendees from more than a dozen other waterbodies around the state of Vermont. The daylong program provided an ongoing partnership between members of the various lakes, as well as a terrific kick-off to this season’s boat inspection program at the access at Echo Lake.
2011 Milfoil Inspectors
Diane Anderson is a native of Barton who lives on Echo Lake and enjoys her role as a wife, mother and grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren.   She has been interested in the milfoil project for several years, and was enthusiastic about joining the inspection team when the funding was approved.

She enjoys traveling with her husband Arv who has lived on Echo Lake for forty years.

Mary Kenison has been an active member of the Echo Lake Association
since 1988. She is now retired from a career in clinical social work
and lives here full time. The importance of maintaining water quality for all
Vermont lakes is vital, and Mary's participation in this effort is one she
enthusiastically embraces for all who live on, or enjoy, Echo Lake.
My name is Cheryl Hryckiewicz. I am the initial milfoil inspector at Echo Lake. I took a leave of abscense due to a serious health issue, which is know taken care of. I am very glad to be back on board. I live between both Echo and Seymour Lake, two of the most beautiful and clean lakes in all of Vt. I want to strive to keep our lakes the cleanest in Vermont and also educate people on how they also are a big part of this process. My major in college at the University of Vermont was recreation management, therefore I feel I am very knowledgeable on what it is we need to do to move forward with this project and keep Echo one of the nicest lakes in all of Vermont.
